Turn feedback into your next practice action

Convert a general comment such as “be clearer” into a small practical experiment. Separate the comment, your interpretation and the change you will try.

Record what was actually said

Note the work and section the comment concerned. Separate the specific statement from a broad conclusion such as “the presentation was bad”. You do not need other people’s private information in your notes.

Ask for an observable example

You might ask where the listener lost the connection or what would help them in the next version. Not every suggestion must be adopted. When opinions conflict, revisit your own objective and intended reader.

Choose a single-variable experiment

Try a limited change such as shortening the opening sentence or showing the example earlier. Changing everything at once makes it harder to understand what helped. Choose your own practice duration and the sign you will look for.

Write an observation rather than a verdict

After practice, record what you did, what you observed and what you still do not know. One person’s comment is not every employer’s assessment. Mark the actual experiment’s status in your learning plan rather than treating a planned activity as completed.

Turn reading into an output

  1. Write one comment alongside the work it concerned.
  2. Prepare one question asking for a concrete example.
  3. Choose the single thing you will change next time.
  4. After the trial, record the observation and open question separately.
