FROM ADJECTIVES TO EXAMPLES · YOUR CONTRIBUTION

Explain what you did
more clearly.

Turn a general statement into a clear structure you can fill with your own real experience.

Brackets mark fields for you to complete. These are not ready-made claims about your achievements or mandatory employer requirements.

Explain a data skill with an example

Alongside a tool name, explain the question you answered and your decision.

General statement

I am good at data analysis.

A structure to fill with your own example

For [context], I used [permitted / sample data] to examine [question]. My contribution was [action]. I prepared [output]; I did not draw conclusions about [unmeasured effect / data limit].

This structure does not establish proficiency by itself. Fill it with work you actually did. Separating tool, question, decision and output helps a reader understand available evidence. Do not label a course exercise as real client work.

Ask yourself

  • Am I allowed to share the data?
  • Did I state the question and my contribution separately?
  • Did I turn an unmeasured effect into a metric?

Separate team contribution from your action

Separate what you organised, who made decisions and what was produced when describing a team result.

General statement

I am a team player.

A structure to fill with your own example

In [work], I tracked [information / tasks] between [people / roles]. I was responsible for [my action]; [another role’s contribution] was not mine. The available output is [what I can show].

Participating in a team and holding coordination responsibility are different. Do not present yourself as a team manager without that role. If you can share a tracking note, decision record or delivery list, explain what it demonstrates.

Ask yourself

  • Did I name my actual responsibility accurately?
  • Did I attribute someone else’s work to myself?
  • Does my evidence contain confidential team information?

Explain communication through a specific event

Describe how you clarified a request, explained limits and passed on the next step.

General statement

I have strong communication skills.

A structure to fill with your own example

In [an event without personal data], the request was unclear because of [ambiguity]. I clarified it using [question / explanation] and communicated [relevant role / next step]. My note recorded [verified outcome or open point].

Describe the event without real customer names, booking details, patient information or identifiers. If unresolved, explain the handover rather than claiming resolution. Do not invent a satisfaction result you did not measure.

Ask yourself

  • Can I describe the event without personal data?
  • Did I accurately state an unresolved request’s status?
  • Is my own wording or action clear?

Make your decision and alternative visible

State the problem, two options and why you chose one before jumping to the result.

General statement

I am solution-oriented.

A structure to fill with your own example

For [problem], I considered [A] and [B]. Because of [constraint], I chose [option]. My part was [action]. I obtained [output / observation]; [limit of the decision] still applies.

The alternative should be an option you actually considered. Do not invent options to construct an ideal story afterwards. If the result differed from expectations, describe your learning and what you would check next honestly.

Ask yourself

  • Did I confuse the problem with the solution?
  • Which real constraint affected the decision?
  • Can I explain an unexpected outcome rather than hide it?

Connect learning to an output

Alongside completing a resource, state what you produced and where you still need support.

General statement

I learn new things quickly.

A structure to fill with your own example

For [learning goal], I used [resource]. I applied it in [small exercise] and prepared [output]. For [difficulty], I planned [feedback / next practice].

A resource name alone does not show applied experience. Separate what you can do from what still needs support. Do not claim unfinished courses or unearned certificates as completed. Describe a concrete learning loop rather than claiming speed.

Ask yourself

  • Did I separate my application from the resource?
  • Did I state remaining limits honestly?
  • Can I show a learning output?

Make follow-through concrete

Explain how you recorded status, missing information and next steps rather than only claiming good follow-through.

General statement

I deliver my work on time.

A structure to fill with your own example

In [work], I used [tracking method] for [delivery / checkpoint]. When [missing information] arose, I took [communication / planning action]. The available record shows status and next step.

Describe one real example instead of broadly claiming every delivery was on time. A calendar entry is not completed work. If there was a delay, explain context and your action without inventing excuses.

Ask yourself

  • Did I separate planned and completed work?
  • Is my action around missing information clear?
  • Am I allowed to share the tracking record?
